Junk food should be sold in high school vending machines for students with early lunches around 11a.m. which is known as “brunch”. Junk food is food that’s packaged and needs little preparation, low in nutritional value and calorie-dense. The option of having junk food in vending machines isn’t debatable. It is not fair for students that have early lunches to go throughout the day without eating, and if they participate in extracurricular activities they won’t eat until they go home which is probably in another three hours. Junk food may not be health, but since students only get one lunch, they are going to eat snacks throughout the day. If junk food is not sold in the vending machines students will go somewhere else to get it. Schools should have a variety of vending machines so that student won’t have to leave and buy there snacks. Most high schools have a timer on their vending machines so that during classes student won’t eat in class but they will do it anyways with no regards to the punishment. They will ask why can another student eat fruit but I can’t eat chips in class, what’s the difference both are breaking the rules just because one is different from the other means nothing. Student should not be limited to just eating healthy food as snacks because in high school they should be able to make the decision for themselves. There is a difference between providing something healthy and limiting student’s access to food during the day. Student will buy anything that cost under a dollar, that is portable, flavorful, visually appealing, and gives them a quick pick-me-up. They like traditional candy bars, chocolate nutrition bars, pickles, lemon heads, sodas, fruit drinks, and water. Student just really like the freedom of choice. It’s all about how dependent you make them feel when making decisions. In most cases you find that students will go buy the snacks from another student to avoid going to the crowde
