Many advertisers use different appeals to grasp the audiences attention. As how people's attention is different for both men and women. Everywhere we turn there are ads that do more than just getting people’s attention that may sometimes make them feel good about themselves. There all kinds of ads that make different approaches to people’s lives. On the other hand, there are audiences that are all about shape and are determined to reducing their weights or simply just getting a fitter body. In Jim Fowles’ essay, “Advertising Fifteen Basic Appeals,” he discusses the fifteen emotional appeals that are often seen in many advertisements. Having the same acceptance towards advertisements, I focused on a specific magazine, Athleta, and combined different categories advertisers make about people by applying appeals he had listed. Every human being has the ability to outdo themselves. By considering yourself you will have the courage on doing something because, in reality, if you do not have the courage to do something, you do not have the courage on doing anything. Beginning to live a healthier lifestyle is always and will be beneficial for everyone. It is highly accurate that most people often tell themselves these words all the time “I’m going on a diet.” The matter of saying it and actually doing it is always the problem. For example, I am my own inspiration whenever I read advertisements I feel motivated to actually do something about my body and make a change for myself. This advertisement made me realize that I need to start now in order to have a better lifestyle. The pathway I will take will not be easy, but with determination and consistency, I will reach my goal. Also, surrounding yourself with people who motivate you and are with you along the way is important because they are going to be there anytime you need help or feel like giving up.
