As the developing of technology and human society, people are more creative in the way of using language to communicate and connect together. There are two mains style of communication which are formal and informal. The researchers found that the number of language learner using informal models of communication is increasing rapidly as the developing of many forms of communication such as social network and text messaging. This essay will examine some advantages and benefits that informal communication (oral, written, nonverbal/ body language) is good for language learners in term of fast and effective communication, free environment and not affect on users grammar skills. One of the main advantages of using informal communication in learning English is that it provides the fast and effective technique for language leaners. In speaking, an informal style allows the speaker delivers the short and simple sentences. Agreed with that, Mcwhorter (2012) also mentioned, “Even educated people today speak in word packets of 7 to 10 words each”. In fact, whenever there was conservation between two people, they tried to use the short sentence with simple words to transfer the message to the receiver as clearly and easy to understand as possible. Moreover, using an informal style is very helpful in taking note effectively. To illustrate, when I studied Listening and Speaking class where there was a lot of videos and TED Talk conservation that provide tons of information, I used to apply an informal writing which were using symbolic notation and short sentences in order to catch up the whole content of the video. As a result, using informal language enhance my fast and effective communication in learning English. Free environment is very vital in order to encourage and motivate the leaners more proactive and interest in their studying.
