How are the lives of immunized and non-immunized people different? Are non-immunized people at a disadvantage? Ever since the invention of vaccines, people have had controversial opinions on the morality, ethics, and safety of immunizing their children. In the 21st century vaccines have become more sophisticated, preventing major diseases from spreading, and decreasing the infected rates throughout the world. This is done by injecting a small amount of the virus in the patient’s body, giving the patient’s immune system a chance to develop resistance. Although vaccines are mandatory in Ontario, some parents outside Ontario choose to keep their children non-immunized. This decision creates an entire different life style between the immunized and non-immunized people. Children who are not inoculated have a major disadvantage in their lives; these disadvantages can be shown by looking at the advantages of immunized people, the difficult life style of the non-vaccinated population, and the stereotypical discrimination they face in the outside world. Vaccines provide various advantages and benefits to people all over the world. These advantages are not experienced by the non-immunized population. A main advantage of being inoculated is, having a high chance not being infected by a disease. These chances vary from 90% to 99% based on the individual. Mentioned by the institute of allergies and infectious diseases, the infected rates have decreased by over 98% for most lethal diseases. This dramatic decrease in the rates suggests that vaccines improve the overall health of the population by a huge factor, and make lives better. Another advantage of getting inoculated is that you can save a lot of money. In Canada a few vaccines are provided free of charge but others can be a paid option. This however is much cheaper than getting the disease and spending hospital time.
