it is common that parents set rules to discipline and educate children. However, too much pressure can hurt children, as seen in the story "The Fall of a City?, written by Alden Nowlan. It is about a little boy, Teddy, who uses cardboard cartons to create a kingdom because it is his only way to feel the power. However he tears it in the end because his uncle and aunt ridicule and pressure him. This proves that when parents and guardians have too much control, it can affect a child’s development, rendering them to become weak, passive and ordinary. Therefore, parents and guardians should give children more space and be supportive. Firstly, Teddy can not get respect in reality, resulting in his “escape” from the real world. For instance, he uses cardboard cartons to create a city and many characters. In contrast, Teddy is powerless in reality so he creates King Theodore to represent him in order to fulfill himself in the virtual kingdom. Teddy can have freedom and earn respect from others in the virtual city which helps him forget all the unhappy things in real life. If he does not try to fulfill himself in another “world”, he may have mental illness because he feels too much control in his real life. Additionally, Teddy keeps thinking about the world in supper:?If the Upalian army crosses the Tabelian marshes, they may succeed in encircling the Danovans, but there is the risk that their cannon will founder in the morass? (Nowlan 2). Teddy does not want to listen to his aunt when he is having dinner. He wants to escape from the real world but he can not really do
