The film “The Message” was released in the year of 1977 and was produced by the famous Moustapha Akkad. The overall point to the film is to depict the major concerns of the Islamic faith and the historical story of the prophet Muhammed. Just like history exposes, the prophet in the film is never actually visible or heard but his message is spread, hence the film title. During this time frame which occurred in the 7th century, Muhammed is visited by a special vision. The vision was of the Angel Gabriel. Gabriel encouraged the prophet Muhammed to lead the people of Mecca and alter their beliefs from the idols of Kaaba to the True God. Angel Gabriel’s proposal seems like it would be quite easy to someone in our generation, however that was not the case. Muhammad’s message was spread specifically by his uncle Hamza, whom was a tough and brave warrior. The rebellious actions carried out would lead to the fighting and murdering of innocent people because of their refusal to agree with the corrupt political and military rulers who conquered Mecca. The general message of the film is to show us as an audience how tough it was during the times of the prophet Muhammed and how brave the rebellious clans were by having faith in something they could not actually vision. For example, the film starts in Mecca where Muslims are being grizzly murdered for their beliefs of the True God. The film contains numerous of historical events that were quite horrific including the Battle of Badr and the Battle of Uhud. The film is generally is told from the rebellious point of view of this specific historic event. For example, the film is told from Hamza’s (Muhammad’s uncle) point of view. The film also is depicted in both Abu Sufryan’s and his wife’s point of view whom both later gave in to the movement and became Muslims themselves.
