Good morning, producers and directors of ‘Silent Voices Speak Out’. My names Angus Wallace and I’m here to present my extraordinary documentary to you all. My documentary highlights the lives of the homeless people in Australia and the struggles of everyday life on the street. More than 150,000 people go without food and shelter every day and the number is increasing each year. My main goal is to produce an eye opening documentary about this marginalised group of people, they are a silent voice that needs to be heard. I am particularly capable of making an inspirational documentary that highlights each aspect of a certain topic as I have made many documentaries in my life and film making has always been an aspiration of mine. I have watched many films over time and have observed and learnt many techniques that make a successful documentary. The emphasis of my documentary will be centred on the homeless people in Australia’s main cities, primarily Brisbane. I have chosen these places because of the high percentage of homeless in outlying towns and suburbs. For a long time now, the homeless community has had a bad name because they “taint” the city. My goal is to open people’s minds and help create compassion and kindness towards these unfortunate people and to help people understand that if we start to help the homeless instead of pretending they don’t exist. We could have a significantly lower amount of people on the street and help make people lives a lot better. My documentary will use observational techniques, including many interviews and footage of life on the street. The main focus will be on the living conditions of the homeless and the opinions of people who frequently visit the city. My aim is to show the struggles of having no home and no money and the effect it has on the general community. I will open my documentary with an extreme long shot which zooms into a long shot of the city and the people within it
