“Research class? No.” “I can’t do that” “I need another class to prepare me for this one” “I will never be doing research; why do we need to take this class, anyway?” “I don’t think it’s related to me becoming an accountant” “Are you kidding me?” “No way” These words occupied my mind since I heard Research Class. I’ve been fearing this class since my sophomore year, because they said we will have one but we didn’t. I was so relieved. Junior year arrived. We’re Grade 9! Whoa! Boo yah! Yeah, boo me. Research still exists. I felt sad and disappointed and nervous and afraid. I really did hate Science since I was in grade school, I super hate it that the sound of science itself is weakening and annoying. How much more when you add a research about science? I never wanted to take this class but I don’t have any choice. The day has come. It’s research time. I don’t remember the exact day because I didn’t like it anyway. Just kidding. I guess it was the 17th day of June, 2014 if I remember it right. The teacher introduced herself. She’s Ms. Julie Ann Bonsubre. Her voice was awesome, just like her accent. It made me feel more nervous when she start asking questions, on the very first day. “What is research?” Great question. I haven’t asked myself that yet. What is research by the way? Oh, I know. Research. From the prefix re- meaning to repeat or to do it again and the verb search. Combine it and you’ll have the word research! Great! Research means searching again! I decided to voice it out, then they laughed. Okay, I wasn’t joking. Then, one student from the group who was part of the research team answered, “Research is a systematic way of investigation and collecting data.” What an answer! I felt really dumb about mine.
