Just because the majority of the world’s population speaks English, people have a tendency to learn English to interact with each other. English is very important, and there are at least three reasons that people should learn English as a second language: it is a global language; English is like a magical key to help people access their knowledge, and learning English is able to help people find a better job. English, first of all, is a universal language. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Britain wanted to expand the territory by discovering and invading many continents, such as America and Asia; as a result, nowadays, English becomes the most widely language, and most countries speak it as the official language. For instance, according to the Wikipedia statistics, there are at least 75 countries where English is a first language, including, America, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Bahamas, Australia, Canada, Singapore, and so on, and there are approximately 1.5 billion people who speak English all over the world. Moreover, other billions start to learn English every day. Consequently, non-native speakers always have a tendency to learn English so that they can completely communicate well with foreigners. Secondly, English is like a key to help them broaden their knowledge. As we know, English is a language of scientific research, including science, biology, and medicine, and it is mostly used in famous literary works, such as Harry Potter, The Hobbit, The Lord of The Rings, Pride and Prejudice, The Great Gastby, Gone With The Wind, Macberth, Oliver Twist, etc. Thus, learning English can give us a chance to comprehend science material and to read greatest writings without translating.
