There is an old saying in the Spanish language that the devil knows more for being experienced, than for being the devil. You cannot create experience, you have to undergo it. It is the ultimate art of learning, improving, and being better. Albert Einstein famously claimed, “The only source of knowledge is experience”. It is not the only power, but the only true wealth and source of supreme contentment. If you wish to know the taste of an apple, you must change the apple by eating it yourself. If you want to know the theory and methods of revolution, you must take part in revolution. All genuine knowledge originates in direct experience. Youth would advise you to jump at any presented opportunity whereas experience would contradict to tell you to value every step you take and assess your options. Where you once can take the young as foolish and frivolous, the experienced are seen as adept. The experienced have better apprehension as compared to the young: having an influence of a large magnitude, being altruistic yet audacious. As rashness may belong to the youth, prudence belongs to age. The reason most of our leaders are old is because they are wiser and have more knowledge. They have lived longer lives, and they have more experience, which usually makes them have a better judgment. Rarely do we see a member of the youth occupy a position of such importance. A young politician can be seen as less credible than one of age and experience. Youth is transient? Only if limited to your body. There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source from experience, you will truly have defeated age. It varies from the generalized perception in the world.
