Should an ethics class be taught in high school? Firstly, this class will help guide students to what is a more positive path while explaining why what they do or don’t do is necessarily right or wrong. Secondly, this class will help the kids deal with the guilt they feel with what they did or didn’t do. Lastly, being taught at an early age about ethical decisions will show throughout their future. If you believe in this early way of instilling ethics in your kid then it will better prepare them to think critically about their actions. I am for an Ethics class because it will act as a guideline for students to analyze and critic different paths that are positive or negative to that student. We should start these kid’s freshmen year in an ethics class so they start sooner rather than later. They can use what they’ve learned about ethics to realize what they do or don’t do in life is a positive or negative thing. For example, if someone falls down and is hurt should that student help the injured one or not? This class would guide him to think critically about helping or not helping that kid. Another one would be does choosing to cheat instead of study be the right thing to do? This class would look at the positive and negative sides of both outcomes so the student could make a better decision. It will start students to critic different things in life and explain why they are necessarily right or wrong. For example, if a high school kid was told to put drugs into someone’s drink and he or she went through with it would that be right? The ethics class would help the kid make a critical decision about his actions before it is too late.
