Middle Eastern racism in modern western society is really important for society to study because some citizens believe that not all Canadian citizens are treated equally, despite the government wanting individuals to believe so. People are all judged by race, sexual orientation and language connected to their place of origin (Scott, 2014). Race is a large factor in job attainment. The difference in job wages illustrates the discrimination that occurs outside in the field (Bogt, 2007). Most middle eastern parents or from any other race should probably be paid more for the qualifications they acquire, but the barrier in language forces them to be paid on a lower wage compared to the people who have mastered the language. There are large amounts of Asians or from the Middle East in Canada, the largest groups being Arabs, Indians, Pakistani’s and Chinese. They make up a great portion in Toronto and other cities (Goldberg, n.d). Many individuals from those origins or “Middle Eastern” people may face discrimination due to Islamophobia. The dislike or hatred of Muslim residents. Many Individuals that have a brown skin colour or targeted Muslim are even in extreme forms labelled as terrorist and are faced with heavy discrimination at airports (Ball, n.d). In Quebec, there have been talks about banning the hijab in sports and government fields, mainly targeting Muslim women (Harrington, 2008). Many people may have misguided views of Islam that may lead to negative discrimination at work, school and everyday daily life. It is quite important for society to acknowledge this issue because it is not easy for immigrants to start a new life in another country where they are not welcomed and especially if their born in that country where they feel their own home is a threatening environment to live in. Though home is not the only issue, Middle Eastern people are being discriminated in other western societies too like America, France, Britain and Australia which have been further stated in this document. Racism At Home In Canada, recently there has been “terrorist” attacks at the parliament building with the suspect being a French Canadian having assumed to have a middle eastern decent. His name was Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, a 32 year old man who shot a soldier at Canadians National War Memorial and was hereafter killed inside the parliament perimeter. Muslims across Canada were worried about being discriminated against their religion and facing a backlash but an up-to-date video on the internet proved that multiculturism packs a punch in Canada. The video was a “social experiment” which indicates that non-Muslim Canadians would jump to support a Muslim Canadian who’s been singled out for abuse. Omar Albach --- an 18-year-old student at York University with his two friends --- experimented Canada’s racial tolerance by staging a charade having an actor wearing head-to-toe in traditional Islamic clothing and another Caucasian actor who insults him in public. This video was posted to YouTube to see how Canadians react to Ottawa shootings racism, this video has caught the attention of 400,000 viewers. Racism in the States? There has been heavy discrimination against Middle Eastern people at western airports ever since 9-11. Another incident occurred at Chicago’s international airport where an American citizen of Pakistani descent was singled out of line and strip searched by the National Guard and his security personnel. Samar Kuakab a 22 year old Ohio student was subjected to
