Special children homes are institutions that cater to the needs of children who suffer from special conditions such as Down’s syndrome, Asperger’s syndrome (also known as autism), developmental issues, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder , etc. Special needs can be defined as an umbrella under which a number of diagnoses can be included. Children with special needs might have mild learning disabilities or serious disorders which may lead to psychological and behavioural distress. Such children and parents suffering from such a situation can often be catered by these institutions which have the experience and training to provide the required physical and emotional treatment.

Many areas recognize this problem and hence try to offer some help to such children through volunteering and donations. Institutions that offer help to such individuals take care of their day to day needs and provide them with various facilities inside and outside the building that help them learn. These facilities may include card or board games or outdoor activities for their patients.
